COVID-19 PRO BONO SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN

Producing social media content for a vital research study (COVIDENCE UK) conducted by Queen Mary University of London in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Looks brilliant Freddie, thanks so much to you and your team! It will be a real asset to help with recruitment.
— Prof. Adrian Martineau (Professor of Respiratory Infection and Immunity at Queen Mary University of London)

Brief

COVIDENCE UK is a national research study that is being carried out by a team of doctors, scientists, public health specialists and health economists across high profile universities around the UK. Having worked with some of their media team in the past, we were approached to assist in their media campaign. Whilst they had already arranged print press releases, we were pulled in to help with their social media rollout in an effort to attract as many participants as possible to the study.

They needed video content to spread the word across a wide range of demographics, but had very little pre-existing content for us to work from and few creative restrictions. We were there to advise on both the content and the rollout itself.

Creative

With creative rein and a wide-open brief, it was crucial that we could turn around effective content as quickly as possible so as to capitalise on the Nation’s attention on the subject.

Liaising with Adrian Martineau, study lead and Professor of Respiratory Infection and Immunity at Queen Mary University of London, we wrote up a snappy, 45 second script that Adrian presented and recorded remotely. We then bolstered this footage with animation and stock footage to create short ‘viral’ spots that would show the purpose of the study in as succinct and engaging fashion as possible.

Deliverables

We produced animated spots that were broadcast over their numerous social channels and then subsequently pushed by all of the local University channels as well, including King’s College London, University of Edinburgh, Swansea University and Queen’s University Belfast.
